Welcome to Goedeke Herefords
The Goedeke Herefords story started in the 50's as Darrel Goedeke grew up around Hereford cattle on his parents’ farm in Labette county Kansas. That planted the seed that developed into a love of Horned Hereford cattle and desire to have a farm of his own one day where he raised quality Horned Herefords. Darrel and his dad had a small commercial herd of Hereford and Hereford cross cattle up through the late 1980's. At which time Darrel talked his son into adding to his long 4-H project list the project of Breeding Beef. Darrel's son invested his life savings at that point to purchase a registered Horned Hereford bred heifer. In those days Horned Hereford cattle had all but disappeared from the Southeast Kansas area. What remained was not well advertised and not readily accessible. So a trip was made to Titus and Stout ranch for their spring sale in 1988 and the purchase was made. This was the first registered female that had been in the herd for many years. Later other breeders in the area were found through a subscription to the Hereford Journal. Darrel made his first registered sire purchase from B&B Herefords at Virgil Kansas. This first bull was a son of FR Wrangler 327A. Female purchases have been made from Wildwood Herefords of Joplin Missouri, Higgins ranch in Nowata Oklahoma, and later purchases were made from Ralph Todd under the care of Mill Creek Herefords, and Davis Herefords. Sires were purchased from B&B for several years, but since the early 1990's sires have been purchased from EE Herefords at Fall River Kansas, and most lately Oleen Brothers at Dwight Kansas. The current herd is the product of three lifetimes of experience with Hereford cattle that is represented by quality functional Horned Hereford cattle. We thank you for viewing our website and hope you will consider us for your next herd bull purchase.
